Sewage backups are one of those problems you can't just ignore and hope goes away. They come back - usually at the worst possible time. That's exactly what this homeowner was dealing with, and clearing the line was only step one.

After we ran the sewer camera through, the cause became clear pretty quickly. There was a separated section underground, and it wasn't a random failure. Someone had used the wrong type of connection down there. Those mismatched fittings and improper couplings had been holding things together long enough - until they weren't. That's the thing about buried pipe problems: they don't announce themselves until you've already got sewage backing up into your home.

We dug down to expose the damaged section and pulled everything out. The old fittings were deteriorated, patched together with materials that were never rated for the job, and the pipe itself had separated at the joint. Not a quick fix, not a temporary patch - a full replacement with the right components, done correctly from the ground up.

What goes back in the ground matters just as much as what comes out. We installed new PVC pipe and proper fittings suited for that connection point, so the repair isn't just functional - it's built to last. No more mismatched couplings, no more separation risk.

This is a good example of why a camera inspection is worth doing before you start any sewer repair. Without it, you're guessing. With it, you know exactly what you're dealing with and you can fix the actual problem instead of putting a Band-Aid on it.
